Custom Journals for Travelers, Artists, Planners, All

A local Durham company, Bound Custom Journals, is channeling the Bull City’s manufacturing heritage by using advanced digital technology to breath new life into the time-honored pen-and-paper experience.

Bound gives you the ability to design a journal around your unique needs, not just what you can get off the shelf.

Take it from the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world (Kickstarter):

“Who among us hasn’t paced the aisles of a stationery store debating what kind of notebook to buy? Lines or no lines? Graph or no graph? Addresses or a calendar? Well pace no further: Bound Custom Journals lets you design your own notebook online, exactly how you need it, finally.”

Bound is taking pre-orders through Kickstarter until July 21.

 * Full disclosure: Bound was launched by my husband, Joel :) *

Jessica Slice-Sadler, National “30 Under 30″ Realtor

The National Association of Realtors announced their 30 Under 30 list last week and I was thrilled to have made the list! This past Sunday I left for Chicago for the official magazine release, roundtable discussions, and interviews. It was a great trip and a real honor to be included in the talented group.

I am so lucky to have such loyal & supportive friends & clients.  Thank you all very much.

Book Rally for Durham Public Schools

We’re inviting you to make a difference in the life of an elementary student in Durham.  It’s easy and fun for you, too!

Urban Durham Realty is pleased to announce our 2nd annual “Durham Book Rally,” a fundraising event for the DPS BookMark initiative, sponsored by our firm and several other well-loved local businesses.

Please join us for this education-inspired event, and enjoy delicious treats courtesy of Daisy Cakes, and coffee provided by Counter Culture.  Don’t forget to bring the kids – we’re thrilled to have Paint Savvy on board to delight children of all ages with their face-painting creations!  Finally, stick around and enjoy live dance performances from the kids at NC Arts in Action.

Don’t miss the great posters around town, courtesy of Michael Faber of FaberDesign and Bound Custom Journals.

All are invited!  Guests are asked to bring at least 2 new or gently used books for an elementary student, or a monetary donation.  Please click the BookMark link for details, as there are a few particulars you may want to consider in making your selection (i.e. books published after 1990 are preferred.)

EVENT DETAILS:

When: Saturday, May 14th, 10 am – 12 noon

Where: Urban Durham Realty, 401C Foster Street (down the street from the Farmer’s Market)

Durham Red – April 2011 – Spring Frolics

Yes, it’s true that Spring has somehow morphed into summer around here, but still there are plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors without melting– the mostly shaded Tobacco Trail is a great start!

In this issue you’ll find a great way to utilize Durham’s section of the Trail with stops along the way at some of my favorite local businesses.  Enjoy the last few days of temps that start with the number ’8′!

DURHAM RED – MARCH 2011 – FOOD TRUCKS INVADE DURHAM

Food trucks are hot right now.  We all know Daisy Cakes and OnlyBurger but a fleet of new mobile culinary delights is on the loose.  This issue of the Durham Red will help you enjoy all the four-wheeled fare Durham has to offer.

The best way to find them is checking twitter for the truck’s current location.

Durham Real Estate Information for Duke Residents

I’ve been practicing real estate since 2007 and started Urban Durham Realty with two other women in January 2009. Durham is a wonderful place to live, and I enjoy helping people find a home here.

Dozens of my clients have been residents over the years.  I understand the complexities of starting residency and feel prepared to help you navigate the likely intimidating process of buying a home. Between my clients, friends, and my assistant’s husband who is an Internal medicine resident, I’ve been able to acquire a perspective on your needs and timeline.

I created a couple of brochures for prospective & matched residents at Duke that I hope help paint a picture of “life outside the hospital” in this great city.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at 919-491-8598 or jessicasadler@urbandurham.com.

Durham Food Trucks – Kokyu

It is not news that food trucks are a big deal in Durham.  I have tried just about all of them, and they are all good, but after the other night one stands out from the others: Kokyu BBQ.

Follow on twitter to know when and where the truck will be: http://twitter.com/kokyubbq

If you can only try one thing, go for the duck fat tater tots.  You will be glad you did.

Durham Red – January 2011 – Dinner & DPAC

Durham has all the glitz of a big city when it comes to spending a night out at the theatre.  In this month’s issue (click here to see the latest issue) you’ll find a great itinerary for dinner, drinks, and DPAC:

“… make it a night out and enjoy dinner before and/or dessert after.  Valet Parking and enjoying drinks and appetizers at Revolution starts the evening off in style.  In the past we’ve finished the evening at Revolution as well with dessert and have left our car here in between…”
